there are bikes: hundreds and thousands of bikes!

Our first morning's adventure in Amsterdam left us searching the map trying to figure out where we wanted to go. We didn't plan anything and had a vague idea of things we wanted to do and see. My husband and I both hate planning, so we figured we'd wing it. We booked a flight and a hotel room and off we went-with as little as we could carry.

It was just as bleak as it looks outside-it was terribly cold and dry. Honestly, I hadn't packed our suitcases with enough essentials (but they were light, which was awesome). I should really remember to check weather forecasts better! I had the hats and gloves-but I forgot the scarves and long johns. At least I wasn't one of the hundreds of other tourists that had to buy the "AMSTERDAM" ear flap hats. Well...I would have worn it here I guess, I just would have felt a little silly wearing it there.

Our quest led us here, where we found some warm shelter before deciding on breakfast. Next we headed back to the room to plan the rest of the day.

I loved the velvety curtains and the rope lights. It made it feel just a wee bit warmer inside. I still had to keep my coat on, though.

// Day 124 - - Book Fiend

---------------------------------------------------------
Flew from Seattle to Amsterdam today and as of this moment I have been awake for a solid 24 hours. But in the meantime, I've read two full books (The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan and The Hunger Games by Suzzane Collins... both awesome.) and in my 13-hour layover I managed to get downtown to Amsterdam. Woo!

Now I have until 9pm (another 5ish hours) to wait until my flight from Amsterdam to Glasgow. Blah.
